Every 3 years, the prestigious Galehar Invitational Tournament is held in the nation of Lyssidia. Sponsors seek out only the most promising gladiator candidates to rise to the occasion. The prize? An audience with the king himself, as well as one request that he MUST oblige, no matter how systematically overturning...

...or so the announcements claim. 

In reality, very few newcomers make it to that stage, with event after event falling into the hands of an aristocracy with no intentions of allowing any threats to the status quo to pass.
